Private music tuition and audio production lessons are available in:

  • Piano

  • Audio/Music Production

Lessons are available online via Zoom or in-person (subject to availability), for all ages and skill levels.

Note: Audio production lessons are primarily conducted online. In-person production lessons are available on request, subject to compatibility.

2. Lesson Structure & Scheduling

Lesson Lengths & Rates

  • 30-minute lesson — $50 NZD
  • 60-minute lesson — $80 NZD

Lesson length is agreed prior to enrolment and remains consistent unless otherwise arranged.

Discounted rates may apply depending on the platform or arrangement through which you enrolled. Your rate will be confirmed prior to your first lesson.

Scheduling

Lessons are scheduled at a regular time and frequency agreed upon at enrolment.

  • Changes require at least 1 week's notice
  • Subject to availability

Tardiness

Late arrivals do not extend lesson time. If the teacher is late, time will be made up or credited.

3. Trial Lessons

The first lesson is free. It is an opportunity to discuss your goals, assess your current level, and determine the best approach before committing to ongoing lessons.

4. Cancellation Policy

Minimum notice: 24 hours

Less Than 24 Hours

  • 50% lesson fee charged
  • Emergency credits require documentation within 1 week
  • Repeated late cancellations may result in full charge

More Than 24 Hours

  • Rescheduled as a makeup credit (valid for 1 month)

Teacher Cancellations

  • Full credit or reschedule provided

5. Payment Policy

Invoices are issued weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.

  • Payment due within 14 days
  • Use invoice reference when paying

If you're experiencing financial difficulty, please reach out before payment is overdue.

  • Instrument or DAW session ready before lesson
  • Student-side technical issues are not automatically credited
  • Teacher-side issues will be credited or rescheduled

Audio Production — Online Requirements

For online audio production lessons:

  • Screen sharing is required so the teacher can view your session
  • An audio streaming tool (such as ListenTo) may be used to share DAW audio in real time
  • Setup instructions will be provided before your first lesson

9. Practice Expectations

Instrument Lessons

Audio Production Lessons

Production lessons are project-based rather than drill-based. Students are encouraged to work on their projects between sessions, experiment with techniques covered in lessons, and come prepared with questions or specific areas they want to focus on.

Lack of engagement between sessions may lead to a discussion about adjusting the lesson structure.

10. Parent & Guardian Policy

  • Observation is welcome
  • Quiet presence during lessons
  • Parents handle scheduling and payments
  • Progress updates available on request

11. Communication

  • Primary contact via email or messaging
  • Response time: 24–48 hours (business days)
  • Cancellations must be direct

12. Discontinuation

  • 2 weeks written notice required
  • Lessons during notice period are still billed
  • Outstanding balances must be paid

13. Policy Updates

Policies may be updated with at least 2 weeks' notice.
